Show the shop front-on or at a slight angle so the book rack, cart and doorway remain visible. Leave clear space around the projecting sign and street-side post, and lift the finished model by its base.

• Test the lights before building. Connect the lighting as shown in the guide and check the touch control before fitting it into the scene. Switch off before adjusting connections, then test again before enclosing the wiring.
• Keep the numbered boards beside you. Release only the pieces needed for the current step. Put loose parts in a labelled tray and keep the board frames until the build is finished so numbers remain easy to trace.
• Prepare book pieces in small labelled groups. Work on one shelf or display at a time, matching covers and inserts to the guide. Fold paper pieces along the indicated lines and use a thin amount of adhesive where required so books sit neatly together.
• Check the rack and cart on a flat surface. Assemble their frames before adding books, checking that supports meet squarely. Let glued joints set before loading the displays, and handle the cart by its body rather than its small wheels.
• Keep the entrance displays clear while fitting the frame. Read ahead before attaching the front trim, awning and projecting signs. Install rear shelves at the guide’s indicated stage, then add the pavement pieces without pressing on the finished books or cat decoration.
